The Travelin’ McCourys do not stand still, and you'll see at the August 9th Central Park Sessions that you won't be able to either. No other band today has the same credentials for playing traditional and progressive music. As the sons of bluegrass legend Del McCoury, Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Rob McCoury on banjo continue their father’s work—a lifelong dedication to the power of bluegrass music to bring joy into people’s lives. And with fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram, the ensemble is loved and respected by the bluegrass faithful.

Local legends Cork 'n Bottle String Band will open the show. The Cork 'n Bottle String Band has been on a world tour since 1996. The first 6 1/2 years of the tour were primarily focused on South Butler Street in Madison at Ken's Bar & Grill (and Deep Fry). Since the closing of that bar the band has broadened its horizons and can now often be seen playing as far west as the UW Memorial Union with regular tour stops at The Frequency and High Noon Saloon. So far the world tour has taken the band across two states and one continent.

The August 9th Central Park Sessions is a fundraiser for the Stoughton Opera House Friends Association. Join us for a night of great music and help support southern Wisconsin's most charming theatre. The Southern Wisconsin Bluegrass Music Association has generously donated to the Travelin' McCoury's appearance. The Stoughton Opera House Friends Association is a major funder of the August 9th show. www.stoughtonoperahouse.com
