The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band will perform at the Stoughton Opera House Friday, September 25, at 7:30 pm.
Talk about a bluegrass pedigree: Peter Rowan was lead singer for Bill Monroe, Old & In The Way with Jerry Garcia and Vassar Clements, Earth Opera with David Grisman, Crucial Country, and so much more! Peter is one of the major cult bluegrass artists of the ages, winning a devoted international fan base through his independent records and constant touring.
Always a maverick in bluegrass circles, Grammy award winner Peter Rowan is an unassailable master of mandolin and guitar. His high, wailing tenor has a rough yodeling edge, owing much to old-time country singers like Jimmie Rodgers. Though his music has incorporated rock, Tex-Mex, and reggae as well as bluegrass, Bill Monroe’s music has remained a touchstone throughout his career. A skilled singer/songwriter, Peter yodels, plays numerous stringed instruments and saxophone, and has written such classic songs as “Panama Red”, “Midnight Moonlight”, and “Lonesome L.A. Cowboy”.
Tickets for the show cost $30 and are available by calling the Stoughton Opera House box office at 608-877-4400.
