The Hillbilly Hearts, the latest addition to the swelling ranks of SWBMAI member bands, will perform on June 4 from 6-8 pm at The Frequency in Madison ($5 cover). Patti Graham (dobro), Tony Hozeny (mandolin), and Mark Sherwood (guitar) have spent many years playing and singing bluegrass and traditional country music. Their sound comes straight from the heart and features high lonesome vocals and harmonies, a driving beat, and tight instrumental passages.
The Hillbilly Hearts have been together about a year. Among the artists they cover are Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, Hank Williams, Hazel Dickens, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and the Louvin Brothers. They play in bars and clubs in southern Wisconsin.
Editor’s Note: One of the band’s first “numbers” at the Frequency was to announce that they had changed their name! The band is now Northern Comfort, and that’s the way they are now listed on this site.
The band’s MySpace site is at www.myspace.com/northerncomfrt
