Tomorrow, June 26, many web-based radio broadcasters (“webcasters”) will be holding a national day of silence to draw attention to an impending royalty rate increase that, if implemented, could lead to the virtual shutdown of this country’s Internet radio industry.

Jake Ward, a spokesperson for the SaveNetRadio says:

“The arbitrary and drastic rate increases set by the Copyright Royalty Board on March 2nd threaten the very livelihood of thousands of webcasters and their millions of listeners throughout the country…”

Online Bluegrass radio listeners are likely find their favorite stations (including BluegrassCountry.org) curiously silent tomorrow…
